Linguistic Anthropology

The study of language has been part of anthropology since the discipline started in the 1ate 1870s. This site is a place for linguistic anthropologists to post their work and discuss important events and trends in the field.

American Anthropological Association 107th Annual Meeting

The 107th annual meeting of the American Anthropology Association will be held November 19th through the 23rd at the San Francisco Hilton and Towers. The theme for the 2008 meeting is Inclusion, Collaboration and Engagement.

The new AAA web page does not allow one to search for panels by sponsor or reviewing group any longer. This is a partial list of panels and meetings of interest to linguistic anthropologists, not a list of Society for Linguistic Anthropology events.

For the full schedule, see the online program. Leila Monaghan has a fuller list of language-related sessions here.

Remember Murphy's Law of Convention Organization? The most interesting events at any conference will always be scheduled opposite each other? Well, that goes double for AAA meetings, and at least triple for this year's offerings.
